In the end I did not do flat colours... But it's still pretty simple. It's probably as far as I can go with stripping unnececary stuff from my colouring style. Maybe a little too far even.

This time I tried a combination of really thin lineart, soft shadows, and glossiness. Meh. Took to much time, and it just looks like my usuall style. Tommorow I will probably try something a lot simplier. 

February 2012 challange #1

One pinup per day, till thursday. That's the deal this time. I am sick of having a very complex and time consuming coloring style, and I am trying to develop something simplier. I'll be trying out different combinations of cell shading, soft shading, thick, or thin lineart, to see what looks good with my drawing style.

For the subjects, I decided to pick them at random from your requests. I assigned a number to each request, and then used this site: http://www.random.org/ to pick which one I will be drawing today. 

Today's request was for my autofellating futa character! I assumed it was about that redheaded painterly one.

Bleh. I don't like this one. Pose is stiff, I feel weird doing cell shading and her expression is just plaing weird. Oh well.

Feel free to still add requests to my previous post. I am picking them just before I start drawing.

Speedy painting challange! #5

Aand done. With this one I tried doing a loose underpainting and then trying to refine it later. Big mistake. It took me far too much time to make it look somewhat decent. Line drawing and underpainting come first. Then you can have fun with painting over. 

I guess that's what I've learned from this challange. Lay solid foundations and then build on them. Even if you want to jump ahead and have fun with the details and nuances, you have to make sure it works on a higher level. You have to focus. Good art, at least my art, comes from the mind, not the heart.

Blaargh. Another batgirl with a dick bulge, picture. I have a disease. I tried getting more realistic latex and spandex materials. I think the cowl and boobie area came out nice but I ran out of steam and motivation after that. Meh.

Tommorow the final one! I will probably half ass it to make up for the time I spend on this and the last one. ;)

So here's the #3... uh... painting sketch. I might have went a little overboard with this one. I wanted to try using masks to get better, crisper contours, and boy does it work. I could not stop myself :).

 I will definitely paint this way in the future.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Finally, the holidays are over. I can get back to artsing full time. I will kick of this year with a short challange. For the next 5 days I will paint one fast sketchy/painty pinup. I need something like this to get off my lazy butt.

Here's the first one. Something like 3h. I like how the face turned out:

I assume that the next one is gonna be better as I won't be hung over anymore ;)

Sketch Challange #7

AAand done. My internet broke down again yesterday evening, but I finished the sketch on time. While waiting for the internets to work again I coloured it.

It's the return of the gaaay. Manly!

Seven days (well, eight, but shut up.), seven sketches, fourteen people. It was hard, especially the last two when I started feeling burned out, but it was worth it. I learned a lot about my drawing process, and dropped off a few unnececary habits. I also know what I have to work on next. Year 2012 will be a busy one :)

I will definitely do something like this again.
